Day 1 Individual arrival in Strasbourg

Explore the city with its rich French and German history. The spectrum ranges from the historical city centre, which was honoured with a nomination as UNESCO world heritage site, to the avant-garde buildings of the European institutions. Booked rental bikes will be available at the hotel.

Day 2 Strasbourg - Ettenheim, approx. 55 km

After breakfast you will cross the Rhine and follow the course of the river Kinzig until you reach Offenburg, which is famous for its pretty historical city centre with its historical squares and buildings. You will cycle along the foot of the Black Forest to Lahr and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of Baden between the Storchenturm (Storks´tower) and the old town hall, before cycling through Mahlberg, where you can see the impressive castle of the margraves of Baden. Then you will reach Ettenheim. Discover the picturesque Baroque town with its historical cathedral.

Day 3 Ettenheim - Freiburg im Breisgau, approx. 45 km

Today´s journey, which is characterized by idyllic vineyards, extensive orchards and the sun-drenched wine villages of Baden, takes you around the Kaiserstuhl. Several castle ruins throne on the ridges of the mountains. The towns which are located beneath them invite you to take a culinary wine tasting break. Beer enthusiasts will enjoy the community of Riegel, where beer has been brewed since 1834. Let the evening come to a relaxing close in the picturesque historical town centre.

Day 4 Freiburg im Breisgau - Colmar, approx. 55 km

The fast flowing river Dreisam takes you out of Freiburg. From afar you can see the impressive cathedral of Breisach from the 13th century above the banks of the Rhine. You will cycle back along the border river to Neuf-Breisach, an octagonal fortress town, constructed by the master builder Vauban. Today´s stage ends in Colmar, one of the most beautiful towns along the wine route. Enjoy the evening in between the impressive art and culture in the beautiful historical town centre or go on a boat tour through little Venice.

Day 5 Colmar - Sélestat, approx. 45 km

Today´s stage takes you into the centre of the wine route. Kaysersberg, Riquewihr and Ribeauville are the highlights. In the dreamy towns with their town walls and impressive town gates the Middle-Ages seem incredibly close. Of course they all have excellent wines and sparkling wines, which you should definitely taste. Cycle along the wine route until you reach the charming Sélestat. It is said that the christmas tree was invented here.

Day 6 Sélestat - Molsheim, approx. 45 km

Countless castles throne on the peaks of the Vosges like the impressive and completely restored Haut-Koenigsbourg. Cycle through Epfig, with its beautifully located chapel St. Marguerite and then further to the pleasant wine town Barr, the ideal place to take a break. In Obernai, one of the gems of the wine route, you should spend a little time and enjoy the culinary specialities, before you continue cycling to Molsheim. Let the evening come to a relaxing close in the town of the legendary Bugattis.

Day 7 Molsheim - Strasbourg, approx. 50 km

Today you will cycle to the end of the wine route to Marlenheim, which is therefore also called „Porte de la Route des Vins d´Alsace“. Here you will have the opportunity to take a roundtrip to the Romanesque Wasselonne, where you can see a Silbermann organ in the Protestant church and the Alsace´s formerly largest castle. Alternatively you can follow the typically French canals back to Strasbourg or you could use the time to explore the magnificent “City of Europe“.

Day 8 Individual journey home or extension of stay

After breakfast your Bicycle Holiday in Alsace and Baden ends. If you wish we can extend your stay in Strasbourg, the “City of Europe”.

Comfortable touring bikes, optional 7-gear/backpedal brake or 21-gear/hand-operated brakes; all bikes include a saddle bag, repair set and lock. If requested, GPS tracks and a GPS device are available.
